Meet the Guides
Jen
Jen is the Manager of Matagarup Zip + Climb and Mini Golf. With 20 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for tourism to everything she does. Though she can't sing or dance, Jen loves to joke about it, always wishing she could hit the high notes or bust a move on the dance floor! In her spare time, she teaches tourism at TAFE, sharing her expertise with the next generation, while also being a proud dog mum to two energetic pups.
Ale'
Ale is a proud Brazilian who has called Australia home for the past 11 years. Now living in Perth, he’s building a fulfilling life with his beautiful wife and their two young children, and takes great pride in being an involved, loving father. A true travel enthusiast, Ale often books his next trip before finishing the first and is always on the lookout for the next spicy dish to try. Balancing family life with his role as Duty Manager at Matagarup Zip + Climb and Mini Golf, he brings together his leadership skills and passion for adventure.
Emma
Emma moved back to Perth from New Zealand at the beginning of 2024 with a range of experience in the outdoor field from working within adventure school camps. Emma loves coffee, Coogee beach, handstands and making bad jokes. A favourite: ‘What do you call a cow with no legs?… Ground beef’ *insert crickets* When she’s not leading unforgettable tours, Emma is the lady behind the lens for our social media platform!
Alec
Alec brings a spirit of adventure to the team, all the way from Ireland via the UK, where he spent 13 years guiding mountain adventures—think climbing, caving, and everything in between. Now happily settled in Perth, he’s traded grey skies for endless sunshine and isn’t planning on leaving anytime soon. When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find him hitting the trails on his mountain bike or enjoying his all-time favourite reward: a good slice of pizza.
Jakob
Born and raised in Mt Lawley, Jakob brings energy and enthusiasm to the team, with over a year and a half at the zipline. When he’s not helping guests soar, he’s studying Mechanical Engineering at ECU or exploring the outdoors through Scouts. A passionate snowboarder (his absolute favourite hobby), Jakob also loves travel—Canada is next on his list. At home, he’s kept company by his 14-year-old dog, Missy. Jakob’s driven by a simple goal: keep learning, keep improving, and always do better.
Katie
Perth-born and adventure-driven, Katie thrives outdoors. Whether she’s horse riding, running, or taking on a new challenge, she’s always on the move. She has two horses, Troy and Coco, and a dog named Ollie. After two years at Zip+Climb and work in outdoor education, she knows how to turn fun into an experience. Fresh from Japan—her favourite trip yet—Katie loves exploring the world and its food. Her big dream? To become an Olympian while seeing incredible places along the way.
Jorja
Jorja is an adventurous and experienced team member who has been with us since April 2023. With a background in tour guiding, she brings both professionalism and a passion for adventure to her work. Growing up in a large family, Jorja developed a love for the outdoors early on. She’s an avid scuba diver and enjoys spending her free time on long hikes and always seeking new landscapes to explore on both land and sea.
Kaiden
Meet Kaiden! He’s a uni student on his way to becoming a Health and PE teacher, he brings energy and enthusiasm to the team. When he’s not studying, you’ll find him soaking up the sun at the beach or out on the field playing cricket and golf. Kaiden’s all about good vibes, staying active, and spending time with his mates - making him the perfect fit for our fun-loving tourism crew!
Dan
Dan is an adventurous guy with a unique mix of interests and experiences. He dabbles in a bit of travel, including a year and a half in Whistler, where he worked on multiple ziplines and embraced the outdoor lifestyle. When he’s not riding his Vespa, he’s likely mountain biking, rock climbing, practicing jiu-jitsu, or relaxing in a sauna. Dan is the man 🤙
Wubi
Wubi was born in Ethiopia and raised in Adelaide. Before joining Matagarup Zip & Climb, he spent approximately five years gaining valuable experience in the outdoor industry, with roles in the United States, Peru, and Turkey. In his free time, Wubi can often be found hiking and rock climbing around Perth. With his exceptional customer service skills, he ensures that every guest enjoys a memorable experience on each tour. A fun fact about Wubi—he’s known for his impressive bouquet-catching abilities at weddings, although he’s not yet married himself!
Philli
Phili is a creative admin wiz with extensive customer service experience. When not found at our Front Desk or Mini Golf, chances are she’s discovering a new walking trail with a sketchbook in her backpack before taking off to her next camping trip. She is also a fan of all things food, so if you’re in the waiting area for your next tour feel free to ask her for a new recipe.
Emilie
Perth-born Emilie has been part of the zipline team since November 2024, bringing a love for adventure and travel. Fiji tops her list of favourite destinations so far, and she’s eager to see more of the world. She’s currently studying Engineering and Languages, balancing technical skills with global curiosity. At home, she has a lovable staffy cross to keep her company. Emilie’s goal is to experience as much of the world as possible—and she’s well on her way.
Alexis
This is Alexis. Also known as Lex. She has been with the team before the zipline opened and has been the Duty Manager for the last 2 years. When not on the bridge or training guides, you can find her in the end of an angle grinder, drop saw or hammer drill working on some house project or reno. Lex has a deep connection with her Hungarian heritage, a big passion for reading and cooking, catching sunsets on the beach with her SUP and riding her Honda CBR250R.
Gemma
Originally from London, Gemma joined the team in 2026 and hit the ground running. She’s all about staying active, with running and swimming high on her list—and she’s got her sights set on completing an Ironman triathlon one day. A big fan of travel, Spain is her favourite spot (especially for the olives and sangria). Gemma loves learning anything and everything, especially history and physics, and is always up for a new challenge.
Talia
Born in Sydney, Talia joined the team in 2026 and brings a creative spark wherever she goes. She loves all things hands-on—painting, colouring, crosswords—you name it. Currently studying a Bachelor of Business in Hospitality and Tourism Management, she’s perfectly suited to the world of adventure tourism. Talia has a passion for travel, adrenaline, and new experiences, with Portugal and Morocco topping her favourites list. Her ultimate goal? To explore as many countries as possible and soak up every adventure along the way.
Portia
Born on the Sunshine Coast, Portia brings sunshine wherever she goes. When she’s not rock climbing or creating art, she’s planning her next travel adventure or hunting down unique foods to try. A true thrill-seeker, her favourite memory is sitting on the edge of an active volcano crater. Currently in Year 11 studying ATAR, Portia is always reaching new heights! She shares her home with her two cats, Neme and Bijou. Italy is her favourite destination so far, but she’s just getting started—her goal is to travel the world and live life to the fullest.
Joshi
Joshi is all about adventure, ambition, and big goals. With a love for high-adrenaline activities, it’s no surprise he dreams of mountaineering and conquering the world’s highest peaks one day. Switzerland is his favourite travel destination so far—he fell in love with the mountains and hopes to live there someday. When he’s not chasing thrills, Joshi is busy studying a double degree in law and finance. His ultimate goal? To travel to every country in the world and experience everything it has to offer.
